Under the auspices of Dr. Mahmoud Mohie El Din, the Minister of Investment, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by the Egyptian Capital Market Authority and its Greek Counterpart. Dr. Ahmed Saad, the CMA Chairman signed the MOU on behalf of the Egyptian team while Dr. Alexios Pilavios the Chairman of the Greek Capital Market Authority signed on behalf of the Greek Securities Market.
The signing Ceremony was attended by Mr. Ionis Alexus Zepos, the Greek Ambassador, Mrs. Elvesera Apostoleedo, the International and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abdel Hamid Ibrahim, Senior Advisor to the Minister of Investment, Mr. Maged Shawky, Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange Chairman, Mr. Tarek Abdel Bary, the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Misr for Clearing, Depository and Registry, the CMA board members and representatives of Egyptian Capital Market Authority.
The MOU aims at strengthening the relations between both countries in the fields of protection of securities investors, enhancing the safety of capital markets in both countries through providing a framework of cooperation and information exchange within the effective laws. It also aims at reinforcing cooperation between both countries in addition to overcoming investment obstacles in the field of securities trading.
It is worth mentioning that signing this MOU came within the framework of the CMA’s plans and programs concerning enforcing relations and exchange of expertise with other capital market authorities who are member of the IOSCO. It also comes as part of the system of exchange of technical and technological expertise to develop and support the role of regulatory authorities.
