CMA issues a comprehensive manual on all aspects related to splitting par value of shares– Saturday22/9/2007
In light of CMA’s mission statement regarding protection of market participants, and maintaining integrity in the market, and given the phenomena that have prevailed the market lately, with issuing companies getting into a frenzied race to split their shares, unaware of the share splitting concept, its reasons, and justifications, compromising in the process the interests of investors on one hand, and stirring up arguments among winners and losers regarding these actions given all this, it has become absolutely necessary for the regulator to interfere to provide protection for the market by informing all participants, listed companies, and stakeholders about the truth of the shares split, necessity, and advantages and disadvantages. CMA has decided to introduce amendments to the rules for listing and continued listing at the stock exchange to regulate share splitting operations in a manner that serves the interest of investors.

Within the framework of CMA’s uninterrupted and on-going pursuit of developing investors’ knowledge, the attached investor manual has been prepared to clarify all aspects related to the share splitting issue, and roles of all stakeholders including issuing companies, the stock exchange and the clearing house.
